Plate Up Ballarat is a new and exciting month-long event celebrating Ballarat’s wonderful food offerings; craft beers, boutique wines and a whole lot more. Taking place throughout the month of May 2018, Plate Up Ballarat will showcase local producers whilst also promoting successful and supportive connections between producers, restaurants and cafes.

There’s something about that deep chocolate brown soil and the rich grazing country that surrounds Ballarat that keeps on drawing you back.
This gloriously intact historic Victorian era city forms the backdrop to one of Australia’s most exciting food scenes. For many years a handful of local Ballarat chefs were shouting ‘we have amazing produce, come and dine with us to see how good it is’. In the past few years those few have become a small army of chefs, growers, brewers, distillers and winemakers who have banded together to create a true Ballarat food culture.
The Plate Up team was oh so very proud to receive the Ballarat Courier 'New and Emerging Business Award' (2018) at the Fed Uni Business School, Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards.

THE PIE COMPETITION
Brought to you by Federation University TAFE, Plate Up Ballarat will see the battle for Ballarat’s Best Pie slugged out by some of our best restaurants and cafes. With a focus on local produce, each pie must feature three local ingredients, and must be true to type, and served as a plated meal.
